Contemporary Cottage Garden
Contractor: Prestige Landscape
I was thrilled when my clients, Tami and Anna, selected this design from the concept options I provided. I had long wanted to incorporate the use of staggered rows of long and skinny architectural slabs in a garden, inspired by this garden from designer, Adam Woodruff.

While the pavers lend a contemporary aesthetic, a maximalist planting plan provides diverse layers, texture, and blooms upon blooms, softening the landscaping and keeping it squarely in the whimsical -- a cottage garden appropriate for the 21st century. The long-term goal of the garden is to have very little soil exposed with the use of many different ground covers planted between the pavers and annual native wildflowers throughout that will re-seed happily in available spaces.

Tami and Anna and their rescue senior dogs joined in on planting day, satisfying but muddy work on a drizzly October day! I always invite my clients to be part of the installation process if they want to, it's a great way to connect with the plants and feel a sense of autonomy with your landscape.
